Munster Circuit 2009
Circuit Post Script: Sh Ch and GB Sh
Ch Flyngalee Northern Lights wins Gundog Group and goes RBIS - finishing a
very successful week Jennifer and Danny returned to Scotland after winning
five of the six Green Stars three with BOB a G4 and a G1 - what a week!
With six shows in eight days any
exhibitor and their dogs who stayed the course will have had to apply a
great deal of stamina, the logistics of show locations determined that
most had to change their base at least twice.
This year the Irish weather was not kind, exhibitors got very wet and the
show organisers had the problem of having to deal with waterlogged show
grounds. This year Tralee did enjoy good weather by comparison and
at least on that day they enjoyed showing in shirt sleeves leaving the
waterproofs and wellies behind.
The Club Show saw Jennifer Macdonald
and her champion GB Sh Flyngalee Northern Lights win his seventh Green
Star and with it his Irish title. Jennifer continued the week with
another four Green Stars and with three BOBs one with a Gundog G4 all in
all they had a most successful week. Kerrie Kelly's young bitch Sh
Ch Zenevieva Destiny's Dream, recently having won her Irish title, also
had a winning week taking two Green Stars with a Gundog Group 4 and at
Tralee winning Gundog Group 8 a very fine result for a Golden.
Orlagh Murray's champion bitch Sh Ch Rathcloon Spice is Nice also took two
Green Stars. Other
JGreen Star winners were Des and Jo Glynn's Show
Champion Lislone Garbank Meant To Be At Westlow and Peter, Julia and Sarah
Broadhead's bitches Monchique Golden Dreams and GB Sh Ch Monchique Chasing
Dreams. A special mention has to be made of Katherina Savage's
Weisford Charlie's Chocolate Factory who had a great week winning four out
of six Reserve Green Stars - quite a performance!

Southern Counties Championship Show on the 5th June, winning the Dog CC,

Rocky Back In The Ring

Fourteen year old Rocky, patriarch of Batt & Eilís Horan’s Goldenheights
kennel made a special guest appearance just for one day only! Rocky
has had the distinction of being the only Golden Retriever in Ireland for
many years to hold the title of Champion & Show Champion. As well as
qualifying in both the Show Ring and the field Rocky is the “Granddad” of
Irish Dogs for the Disabled a fact of which he is most proud! Rocky
was at the Fun Day, not to compete or win any prizes, he is just an old
dog who was able to enjoy the excitement of the showring and for that he
wishes to thank everybody who made a fuss of him and applauded when he did
his “lap of honour!”

2009 Fun Day Another Great
Success
Despite the prospect of inclement weather over seventy members
turned out to enjoy the Funday held again at the Lumville House Hotel at
the Curragh, Co Kildare. As it turned out the weather for the events
couldn't have been better with sun and blue skys.
The
afternoon was a great success with competitions for young and old, judge
Susan White gave Best In Show to Laura Ennis handling Katherina Savage's
Weisford Charlie's Chocolate Factory, a repeat of the 2007 event.
With Lady and Gents handling attracting many new members to enter the ring
for the first time and they certainly had some great fun. There were
presentations given by Michael Hogan a professional dog trainer and his
amusing anecdotes of how to 'think dog' gave his audience an insight into
how a dog thinks. There were also demonstrations on Ringcraft and
from the Irish Dogs for the Disabled. The Fancy Dress Competition
showed how keen members are to go to great lengths to rig up ingenious
outfits for their dogs.

Best
in Show Laura Ellis with Savage's Weisford Charlie's Chocolate Factory
The poor judge had difficulty in
choosing between a golden rigged out as a 'hot dog' complete with mustard,
the Devil and other wonderful outfits. Winner was Margaret Cummings
dressed up as Ozzie Osbourne, some might say that she won by frightening
the judge, with a devil in the line up it was convenient that Máiréad
Cummings rendition as a nun was able to keep him in line. What was
so impressive was the many children mixing responsibly and with enjoyment
with dogs of all ages. With raffles and bric a brac stalls there was
something for the whole family. Thank you to the hard working
committee for staging the third AIGRC Fun Day, we all look forward to Fun
Day 2010. Click here to see more
